How to live in your house while it’s being renovated ?

If you’re thinking about remodeling your home, you’re probably wondering if you can live in your house while the renovations are taking place. The answer is yes, in most cases! Of course, if it’s a major whole-house renovation, we evaluate each project on an individual basis.

However, for kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and other areas of your home that are being updated, staying in your home is often possible. You will, without a doubt, be inconvenienced. There will also be dust.

There is occasionally a lot of dust. However, you will not have to uproot your family and pets and find a place to stay while construction is underway. You will also avoid the additional expense of paying for temporary housing. Our advice: If you can stand the

Here are some tips on how to make living in your house while it’s being renovated as tolerable as possible:

1) Create a temporary kitchen: If you’re having your kitchen renovated, chances are you won’t have a functional kitchen for several weeks or even months. To make life tolerable (and to avoid eating out every night), create a makeshift kitchen in another room of your house. Stock up on easy-to-prepare foods like sandwiches and salads, and invest in some basics like a hot plate or microwave.

2) Plan ahead for dust and noise: Renovations can be a dusty and noisy affair. To make sure the dust doesn’t overtake your entire house, seal off the area that’s being renovated with plastic sheeting. As for the noise, try to schedule any loud activities (like sawing or hammering) during times when it won’t bother you too much (like during the day when everyone is out of the house).

3) Keep things tidy: It can be tempting to just let the construction workers do their thing and leave the mess for them to clean up at the end of each day. But trust us – it’s much easier (and less stressful) to tidy up as they go. Ask them to put away their tools at the end of each day, and vacuum or sweep up any dust that’s accumulated. It’ll make the whole process much more bearable.

Living in your house while it’s being renovated is possible – but it’s not going to be fun. There will be dust, noise, and general disruption to your daily routine. However, if you plan ahead and create a temporary kitchen/living space, you can get through it!
