Do you have to be home during a renovation?

When Should You Leave During a Home Remodel?

If you are considering remodeling your kitchen, bathroom, basement, or entire home, you may be wondering if you will be required to leave while the work is being done. The answer is usually yes, but there are times when you may want to leave even if you don’t have to.

There are a few instances where you might want to leave during construction even if you don’t have to. For example, if your kitchen is being gutted and you don’t have another bathroom in your home, you might want to make other plans during the construction.

If you have small children or pets, it may be easier to relocate during the renovation. And finally, even if your contractor says it’s okay for you to stay, you may simply feel more comfortable being away from all the noise and dust.

If you do decide to stay, just be sure to ask your contractor about their policies and procedures for dealing with guests in the home during a remodel. They may have some restrictions in place that you were not aware of. For example, they may ask that you only use certain areas of the house or that you keep your children and pets out of the way while work is being done.

In most cases, it is best to leave your home during a remodel. However, there are some instances where staying put may make more sense for you and your family. Just be sure to talk to your contractor about their policies and procedures before making any decisions.
